Basic Facts: They're Important

Ezra Klein points the way to a posting about basic healthcare facts. Since the Republican pundits continue to spout their version of twisted truth and outright lies the time for real facts is upon us.

Let us begin with Obama's plan for healthcare.
Obama has never said that he favors a British-style health care system. Britain does not have a single-payer system. It has a socialized system, where the government directly employs all health care providers.

And how about the costs of government sponsored programs like Medicare.
Suffice to say, the growth in per-person spending for Medicare has been significantly slower than private health insurance over the past 20 years, and its advantage has widened in recent years.

And what about U.S. life expectancy in comparison to Canada?
O'Reilly argues that the U.S. naturally has a shorter life expectancy than Canada because we have ten times more people. That means ten times as many accidents, crimes, and what have you.
That one defies rational explanation. The man has no idea what he is spouting if he thinks that argument has any measure of rationality included.

And the right wing punditure goes on and on without reservation these days. Too bad they find no cause to stick to facts and continue to make up the story as they speak. Then the media allows this to continue without question. Where is responsible journalism?

Peace.
