This Day In History

On September 17, 1787, the U.S. Constitution was adopted as the law of the land. In spite of many ups and downs over these 222 years the Constitution stands today as the measure by which America runs. The opening paragraph summarizes the major principles underlying the Constitution.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
We would do well to remember those summary principles each and every day these days as our nation sets a course for the future.
