Bailout Bust

BAILOUT BUST reads the NJ headline this morning. Going down to defeat yesterday in the House, the bailout bill is now back in negotiation. Perhaps this time we can get a bill worthy of passage. The Paulson/Bush bill was a power grab of epic proportions.

The bill as presented deserved to be repudiated. We need a real solution to a major problem, not a bandaid approach to a major wound. What will arise next is very much up for debate. Who knows what our lawmakers will find in their pockets next time? I hope we see a bill that is fair to all sides including taxpayers as well as financial institutions and their investors. We will see.

Peace.

Sometimes Congress hears the voice of the electorate. This time we need real solutions to an economic crisis that is costing people their jobs and their homes.

Peace.
