Why Is Anyone Surprised?

News of the day includes the Times Square's National Debt Clock. In 1989
The late Manhattan real estate developer Seymour Durst put the sign up in 1989 to call attention to what was then a $2.7 trillion debt.
Today
According to the Treasury, the national debt has grown more than $500 billion each year since fiscal year 2003.
A new clock is in the works to make room for a quadrillion dollars. That is a 1 followed by 15 zeroes.

The amounts of national debt continue to rise at staggering and unfathomable rates. Our great grandchildren will bear the burden of today's decisions.

Peace.
