Hypocrisy On Parade

Today's e-mail brought a real gem from Congressman Mike Castle. From the Castle Record: February Edition.
I am proud to represent Delaware at such an historic time in U.S. and Delaware history.
Now if he would take those words to heart and represent the people for a change we'd all be a good bit better off in the end.
I look forward to working with this new Administration in the coming months as we face serious challenges in our country's economy.
Working together means the Republican way or the highway.
The 111th Congress has been working to debate and pass the economic stimulus package, which the President recently signed into law.
And what did you do to insure the passage of this bill, Congressman? The message goes on with glowing words about the stimulus bull.
I agree with many leading economists who suggest that such a package, targeted to spur job creation, allow Americans to keep more of their tax dollars and assist cash-strapped states, could both curb unemployment and ease the suffering of many families. Delaware will certainly benefit from this assistance and I truly hope the funding will ease economic challenges facing our state, and the nation.
No thanks to you, Mr. Castle, Delaware will indeed benefit from this bill.
I opposed HR 1 because the contents of the bill reflect more than such an attempt at economic stabilization.
Read that "not enough Republican tax cuts for the wealthy" and you may understand the real reasons.
A sustainable path towards economic growth demands much more than a short-sighted stimulus bill.
Agreed for a change. The stimulus bill is a fine start, but the failed Republican measures of the past eight years are not going to do for the future.

The remainder of the message is all about how Congressman Castle and Senator Carper cooperated to bring Federal dollars to Delaware. Lots of back patting and self-promotion without much in terms of substance. Maybe one day we will put a Representative in Congress who will speak to and act to resolve the needs of ALL the people for a change. I do keep hoping...

Peace.

Seed of Responsibility

If the Democrats manage to succeed
into turning our one great nation around
to then restore our pride and not our greed
we will have come away from fright abound.
Failures, of last eight years have we agreed
A seed of fear was planted in the ground
to help a plan of ignorance succeed.
Long will the albatross sing a sad sound
for those who believed in a war of need.
We hold this accountable and surround
ourselves with a reason to fight and plead
awaken the work ethic once we crowned.

Wake up Delaware, in this time of need
hold our future firm with a new kind of seed.
