Will We Never Learn?

In years past the U.S. government provided arms and support to a variety of insurgent groups including Osama bin Laden's organization. Now we are in the same business once again. According to Afghanistan's Interior Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar,
A U.S.-funded program to train and arm community members in Afghanistan's most dangerous regions as a way to defend against the Taliban has begun.
While U.S. and other officials are being careful not to call these armed groups "militias" the purpose remains the same.

When ever will we as a nation learn our lesson? Weapons are used to kill people. The more arms and armament in an area the more violence is likely to be seen. We need programs to improve social and economic status for one and all. More weapons and their use increases the problem without offering a real solution.

Peace.

Hi Jerry, I was reviewing some AVMA new bytes and ran across your campaign. I was saddened to learn it was not successful. Will you be tossing your hat in the ring in the future? My best to you.

Hey, Mark,

Thanks for stopping by. All my options remain open these days. Maybe another run for the House or maybe a State Senate run. Who knows? Decision time will come in the next few months. Announcements will be posted here and in my newsletter. Stay tuned!

Peace, Jerry

Jerry,

I suppose you saw first hand how catastrophic hiring the locals to kill the locals was in Viet Nam.

Americans are losing jobs and homes at an accelerating pace, but we still have, (or should I say borrow ), money for Vietnamization.

us in the usa,

You are right on. We seem to have all the money needed to enrich the military-industrial complex and nothing for the rest of the nation. This is wrong, wrong, wrong. We must find a very new course for our nation if we are to survive far into the future.

Peace, Jerry
