New VA Woes

The stories of VA failure to provide needed services to veterans continue to pour forth. During the Bush administration funding for the VA was reduced while need for services increased as a result of the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now there is one more tale of veteran loss at the hands of the VA. One past report found claims and correspondence relating to those claims awaiting shredding at VA facilities. Now comes a tale of letters and documentation hidden away.
A new report about Veterans Affairs Department employees squirreling away tens of thousands of unopened letters related to benefits claims is sparking fresh concerns that veterans and their survivors are being cheated out of money.
The disability process is difficult and complex enough without active interference on the part of overworked employees. While there may be no immediate fix, it is imperative the administration begin action to correct the current deficiencies. Any nation that fails its veterans is a failing nation.

Peace.
