A 26-year-old man was shot by the driver of a green car, whom he had mistook for the man he had tangled with in the Camden store a day earlier.(emphasis mine)Most newspapers publish on a fifth grade level, but this is below even that. Street slang and misappropriation of language grates on my nerves more than most any other error when put into print. The NJ took one more long step down today. How much farther will they fall?
Peace.

Jerry,
Most word processors have grammar and spelling checking. Enabling those features is, apparently, not covered in journalism school.
Personally, my pet peeve with the NJ is the pet food ad in the opinion section.
us in the usa,
Hey, now. Pets are my livelihood. Don't disparage them too much. :)
And don't forget, advertising is what keeps the rag alive at all. Without ads they would not be publishing at all. All of today's is simply a transport mechanism for advertising.
Peace, Jerry
Jerry,
I stand corrected.
Perhaps, given the bad grammar (not to mention the intellectual dishonesty) the pet food ad IS the best section on the opinion page.
us in the usa,
You are so very kind. Having given the opinion page some more thought I believe you may be correct. The pet food ad is the best part most days. That is one sad observation about the state of our local media. Thank goodness for the internet and real news these days.
Peace, Jerry
