Lieberman Stays

In spite of a vote against the policies of Bush as represented by the loss of McCain and the win of Obama, our Democratic Party Senators did not hear the voice of the public. In a closed door session of the party caucus this morning, Senator Joe Lieberman was allowed to keep all his committee posts including the chair of Homeland Security and to caucus with the Democrats in the Senate.

How very far we have fallen as a party when a man who attends the Republican Party Convention and stands in support of their candidate is kept as a "Democrat." The man lost an election in his home state and ran as an Independent. He has been a steadfast support of the Bush war agenda and has supported other Republican Party nominees for Congress in recent years. Lieberman actively campaigned against Obama. How much more evidence do we need to let him go at last?

What is wrong with our Senators? Apparently the old boy club of the Senate is more important than any real representation of either the Party or of the voters. I am saddened beyond measure today.

Peace.
